Our group sees patients for comprehensive ophthalmology, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics, orbital disease and neuro-ophthalmology.
This Optometry role is focused exclusively on medical clinical eye care. Optometrists with a special interest in Glaucoma will love this opportunity. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed eye examinations to assess visual function and ocular health.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions including stable glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and more.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing ocular procedures.
- See same-day patients and those seen by the providers in the practice who attend to city call. This is done in collaboration with the ophthalmologists, ensuring timely and appropriate care.
- Work closely with ophthalmologists and other clinical staff to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA and clinic policies.
- Participate in clinical initiatives, research, or community outreach as needed.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted license to practice optometry in Alaska (preferrable).
- Clinical experience in a private practice or hospital setting preferred.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as OCT, fundus cameras, and visual field analyzers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a great teamwork mindset.
- Commitment to ethical, patient-centered care.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing complex ocular diseases.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Work Environment:
- Clinical setting within a medical facility.
- No retail or sales responsibilities.
- Full-time schedule; may include occasional evening or weekend shifts based on patient needs.
