Optometrist job in Hagerstown, with a busy high volume ophthalmology practice. The incoming optometrist will work at two locations; one in Hagerstown, MD and another in Chambersburg, PA.
Team with four MDs and three ODs at this reputable 20-year-old group. Our practice is busy and growing. Surgeries are performed onsite at 2 of our locations in state-of-the-art AAAHC ASC’s. The main location is a nice 12,000 s.f. building with an onsite ASC.
The incoming doctor will become part of an eye care team who pride themselves in providing a caring and compassionate patient environment focused on exceptional results. Because of our excellent patient outcomes, we enjoy a strong, active referrals network with area OD’s and MD’s. Customer referrals matter too, and word of mouth is our best advertising.
You’ll live in an area rich with history and natural beauty. You’ll enjoy all the benefits of a large community without the “big city” headaches. This is an area with lots to see and do: cultural events, skiing, boating, and hiking in and around the local state parks and when you do need a night on the town or want to get away for the weekend you’ll have a tough decision to make because Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and even Washington DC are all within reach!
Affordable Cost of Living & Housing
One of the biggest draws to Hagerstown is its more affordable cost of living compared with many U.S. cities and especially other parts of Maryland. Housing costs — both renting and buying — tend to be significantly lower than state and national averages, making it easier to buy a family home or save for the future.
Family-Friendly Community with Small-City Feel
Hagerstown is known for its close-knit community and family-oriented atmosphere — big enough to have amenities but small enough to feel welcoming and neighborly. Families often find the environment less stressful than in big cities, with plenty of opportunities to get involved locally.
Location & Easy Access to Larger Metro Areas
Hagerstown’s position at the crossroads of major highways gives you convenient access to major metropolitan areas like Baltimore and Washington, D.C., which are within reasonable driving distance. This is great for weekend trips, extended cultural options, and professional networking.
Cultural, Recreational & Educational Opportunities
Despite its size, Hagerstown offers arts and culture worth exploring:
• The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts — free museum with rotating exhibits, music, and classes.
• The Maryland Theatre — historic performing arts venue with concerts, shows, and family performances.
• Parks, bike trails, and community events make for meaningful family weekends and after-school activities.
These amenities give a small-city community quality of life that still feels enriched and engaging.
Growing Local Economy & Professional Opportunities
Hagerstown is part of a regional economic area that’s investing in infrastructure, business development, and workforce growth. Its strategic location supports distribution hubs, healthcare services, education, and small business growth — factors that are appealing if you’re planning a medical career, private practice, or even part-time academic involvement.
